Where do I begin?
A question I am asked often from everyone from the new homeowner looking for inspiration. To someone redesigning a room or a whole house. I believe every home has a personality so start there first. Look at the fixtures, tile, architectural features and even the view to the outside. Do you need to bring the outside in? Is there a pool surrounded by beautiful blue tile? That could be a beginning to an enticing blue and gray color scheme.
If you don’t like the colors of say, your kitchen backsplash don’t use it as a color scheme but don’t ignore it either. Use a color that compliments or perhaps brings out the undertone in that least favorite color. By completely ignoring it you may actually bring more attention to it.
Still not feeling inspired? Go where we all go for information and ideas – online. Two of my favorites are Houzz and Pinterest. Find a color scheme or room you like and copy it. It doesn’t have to an exact copy and you may be surprised to find once you get started, it quickly evolves into your own unique style.
Course, I may be out of style on this one but I still love magazines too. So for anyone else who loves to earmark their favorite pages – I’d like to give you a chance to win a year’s subscription to one of my favorites, HGTV magazine. Simply leave a comment on this page or any other page on my website, subscribe to my blog, or leave a review here or any other social media (just let me know if its not here). In a couple of weeks I will randomly select a winner. Good luck!
