Recently I attended the annual Real Estate Staging Association (RESA) conference in Las Vegas. I was super excited when I found out the market was there at the same time. My friend and fellow stager Holly and I flew in early so we would have a full day of browsing. As soon as we stepped off the shuttle bus we were in awe. It was one of those places that make you feel cool just by being there (like professionally staged homes do). Loud music pounded out of speakers that seemed to hang on the clouds. The courtyard was filled with designers from all over the world! They sipped cocktails and lounged on the beautiful outdoor furniture which was strategically placed around elaborate fire pits. Framing the area were black faux trees that twinkled with tiny lights of brightly colored faux flowers. Of course every space was staged to perfection! I tried to look as if I belonged and keep the giddy out of my step as we walked into the first building. More of the oh-so stylish designers scurried about with assistants close on their heels feverishly scribbling on notepads. We registered, and began wondering around a dizzying amount of furnishing, fabric, bedding, and home décor. After an hour of oohing and awing we realized we hadn’t even covered half of one floor and there were three buildings with anywhere from 10 to 16 floors. We did our best to see as much as we possibly could. At the end of the day, exhausted, blurry eyed and feet aching, we headed back to the hotel. My head was swimming with ideas, but ultimately I felt frustrated. All day I had walked among the fabulous décor drooling over the prices. However, my shopping bags were filled only with brochures and business cards. I knew in the beginning, but I hadn’t realized how hard it would be to not take any of the pretties home with me! Every piece from the $5.00 item to the $10,000.00 item was there for display only- of course designers could place an order as long as the minimum dollar and quantity amount was met. Next year I will be sure to get my shopping fix in before I go to market!
Here are just a few pictures I snapped –
Tuffed leather was everywhere.
Loved this foosball table, and for only $18.400!
Lots of fun chairs at the market –
Yes, that sign does say $69K
Another fun chair –
Comments please – which one do you like most and least?
