Is there anyone else that has a special memory of Valentine’s Day?
Maybe you remember the first valentine day card you received. Or the special dinner your special someone planned just for you? My special valentine memory begins with a love triangle. Stacey and Ricky were best friends, and my boyfriends. As this scenario only works in elementary school, you may have already guessed we were in 1st grade. Stacey and Ricky walked me to school each morning, and home every afternoon. They would sometimes argue over who would carry my books (really) or set closest to me on the swing set at recess. One day my world came tumbling down, my family was moving out of town and I had to break the news to Stacey and Ricky. Suddenly they had to know, which one did I love the most? But I liked my little world of two boyfriends and I couldn’t profess a love of one without hurting the other so I did the only thing a seven year old knew to do. I kicked sand onto their shoes and ran away yelling I didn’t like either one of them. Two years later, in a state away, a new boy was introduced to the class and his name was Stacey. We stared into each other’s familiar eyes for a long moment, until the teacher assigned his seat across the room. That following Valentine’s Day I received an envelope, and when I opened it, a tiny pink doll standing on a plastic red heart by a spring, popped out. There was also a chocolate heart, and valentine day card from “a secret admirer.” Although Stacey was never my boyfriend again, I still have his gift.
So what does that have to do with staging or home design? Not a thing, other than it’s my excuse for not decorating for Valentine’s Day – Stacey had just set the bar too high Lucky I have a reader that loves to decorate for Valentine’s Day and sent the beautiful pictures below. Thank you so much Monica!
