Wow, it was amazing! The speakers were fantastic, the workshops were educational and the groups of attendees were inspirational. I learned so much it will take me a while to process, organize and put into place all the information (hopefully before my brain explodes). So if you don’t mind I would like to share a few highlights here.
Of all the speakers, there were two that really stood out for me. The first was David Arvin, who spoke on building a brand- his advice, 1) BE UNEXPECTED 2) Have a plan you revisit every week 3) Be very Visible on social media. I admit I am not very good at this. Like most stagers, I prefer to be in a house staging or redesigning, not in my office on face book, but I will work on it. The second was the extremely entertaining Terry Watson. Terry spoke on everything from Chia seeds to clutter, from marketing to Nero Linguistics programming. He had a lot of information and presented it in a hilarious way. My ‘to do” list grew expediently after hearing his speech, and my first task is adding testimonials to my website which Terry claims is imperative (I’ll be hounding some of you later).
The workshops were terrific and I walked away with a notebook full of valuable tips, tricks and tools I’ll be putting into place immediately. I attended classes on trends, colors, redesign, lighting, and of course staging. I also heard from realtors on how I can better serve them and more importantly, the home sellers. However, the absolute best was all the invaluable information I received chatting with the stagers and designers that have been working in this business for decades. Although technically we are competitors, they were willing and eager to share their wealth of knowledge because after all, we all share the same goal – to design, redesign and stage beautiful homes for the benefit of the clients we are privileged to serve!
Thanks for reading and I’ll be sharing more from my notebook on future blogs.
