I almost did not put this property on my website since the painters reversed the paint colors (multiple times but we won’t harp on that lol). However, I thought this might be a good learning opportunity, so here goes –
What do you notice on the first before picture? It’s not the front door as it should be, it’s the blue colored post. We want our eyes drawn toward the front door, so we painted the post the lighter color and the door the darker color. Also notice the red shutters, it’s the only red on the house so needed to go. I recommended the soft green gray color on the body (including the post) and a beautiful dark deep blue on the fascia and soffits. As you see here, the fascia is the body color and in the next photos you’ll see the body is the darker blue (opposite of my recommendations). So we made a few adjustments, such as painting the shutters the same dark blue as on the body of the house to give it a more cohesive look.

- Before
- AFTER – painters reversed the colors on body and fascia so we improvised on a few details to make it work
- Before
- AFTER – the darker color on the fascia it would have given it more depth and interest; although it still looks much more put together than the previous colors
- Before – if you ever wonder what color you should paint this trim piece going down the side of your house, the answer is …
- AFTER – side trim piece should be color of body; of course there are a few exceptions
